Repair of Martin Logan Aerius i

Hi,

I have an10 year old pair of Martin Logan Aerius i. Both panels are dead. I live in tropical Malaysia and possibly the humidity is the cause of the problem.

I have washed and showered the panels as recommended by some, but it did not help.

How can I measure if the high voltage cirquit is still working?

Is it possible to repair the panels? there is an Australian guy selling conductive powder for DIY purpose - would that work ?

I don't think the stators can be separated and it might be hard to coat the membranes in a uniform manner.

thx

see if you can draw an arc....

with a length of insulated wire connected to ground and the logan supply on bring the opposite end of the grounded wire close to the output end of the high voltage supply. You should be able to draw an arc when you get within a few milimetres. If both supplies work (and I would expect they will) then your problem lies with the panel. The most likely problem will be at the contact point between the HT wire and the diaphragm. You could try a very well placed drop of nickle print and leave it to dry and set up. If that fails to get you running then you probably have a coating problem. If you have no experience and no tools then your best bet would be to contact Martin Logan and ask what they will do for you. You could also send the Panels to Russell Knotts and have him repair or rebuild them for you . That will be the easiest way to get your panels up and running short of finding a local rebuilder. Good luck.
