I recently had some problems with my Trends amp and I believe the chip is at fault. I have tried to find the 2024 chip for sale, but the best source I could find was 5 chips for $100. However, Jan at 41hz sells the 2021B chip individually. I read a post that mentioned that somebody had replaced a 2021B with a 2024 (http://www.41hz.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=887).
I am looking to go the opposite direction. The pin layout is practically a mirror image between the 2021B and the 2024. With a little bending, I could solder in the 2021B in place of the 2024. The output filter in the eval board datasheet is slightly different. The number of diodes is doubled and the filter cap values at the output vary slightly. Are there any major changes that need to be done, or are the chips close enough to be a drop in replacement?
