Hi all. I am interested in acquiring a good RTR but there doesn't appear to be any steady sources for pre-recorded tapes. Where would one look? TIA
Here's a list. Also ebay for used recordings on tape.

Perfect! Thanks guys. Now on to the next question. What's the sure fire way of winning the lottery???
You buy blank tapes & record them Yourself.
I've never liked the quality of cassette pre-recorded tapes, even with azimuth adjusted.

No, we're talking RTR here. The BIG boys.
However I'm not interested in the novelty per se. I want direct from the source. Otherwise my records and CDs are better
Thanks for the referral Rayma

Yep, talk to Kevin the mod. He is the resident tape expert and has some of those expensive tapes from the masters.
I'm inquiring because I would like to discover the buzz about it's current resurgence. However cost of source material may stop me in my 1 track mind.🙂
Yeah, crazy $$$. I have heard the Tape Source tapes at a couple of shows. I was impressed. I think Kevin is less so.
FWIW, I used to have a copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy taken from the master tape at the BBC. It was good, but a little unnecessary. 🙂

Perhaps the best 7.5ips, 1/4-track recording you can obtain at a reasonable price is to have a properly aligned pro tape recorder and high quality DAC; then record on RTM or ATR tape from one of the high-res streaming sites that feature 24-bit, 192KHz source files.

I believe people are tired of the "loudness war" and becoming fat from not standing up to operate switches & knobs. Music is too perfect. No noises, no pops or clicks, no wow & flutter, no head cleaning, no tape eating....
Vintage gear needs to play in order not to rust and nowadays You just use a phone or a tablet. It's like a classic car. You have to drive it on a sunny day.
One of these days I was listening to a Supertramp LP & my nephew asked me "How do you know where to position the needle. Where does the track begin ?"
Excellent!🙂
Tell him 'it takes a lot of practice', and, 'you just have to persevere if you want t o be an "audiophile" 😀
