Reducing tweeter cutout

Hi,

I have designed and built a pair of bookshelf speakers. The tweeter seems like the weak point so I'm interested in picking up a different tweeter and redesigning the crossover. However, the current tweeter has a large 110mm od and is countersunk. I'm interested in using a tweeter that has a small faceplate such that the new od will be less than the old id. The speaker was painted all as one piece (except removable back). Anyways, any suggestions on how to get a different tweeter in this cabinet without making it look awful?

Hi Jon,

That's a really good idea. I was initially thinking of putting a puck in the hole and veneering the top portion. I like your solution much better🙂 I'll have to get a little creative so that the profile stays low so the phase isn't too effected but it should just work!
