Redeye damping help, please.

Hi Gentlemen,

I am finally getting around to building a pair of the Wooden Design Redeye speakers which use a single Aurasound NS3 driver. I have the drivers and understand the plans, but am unclear about the damping scheme. The design specifies where the damping material is to be placed and says that Ultratouch 1/2 inch or equavalent material is to be used. I'm wondering if 1/2 inch parts express sonic barrier iowb cekk foam is OK to use since I don't have quick access to Ultratouch 1/2 inch. If not, what is an equavalent material available in the USA?
Also, since the last manifold entry point at the top of the speaker is only 1 inch tall, wouldn't putting 1/2 inch of either Ultratouch or sonic barrier foam overly restrict air flow even though the entry point is 4 inches wide?
And one last question, how does one, "adjust from there if needed." I am eager to see how this design compares to my Pico Neos which use the same driver in a bass reflex cabinet.

Thanks!
Jay

I have plenty of fiberglass insulation batts which are 4 inches in thickness uncompressed. Would cutting 1 inch thick pieces to fit in the cabinets and stapling them every couple of inches to attach them work well? I know fiberglass is unpleasant to work with but for such a small quick project I would not mind using it if it is a good way to do the job.

A couple of suggestions when cutting thicker FB batting for this purpose:

-N95 dust mask (might be hard to source presently) and something along the lines of Grease Monkey or similar nitrile gloves;
- serrated bread knife - slices through the 3" batts like, well a hot knife through butter. To be honest, I used to use our electric carving knife, but wife quickly kiboshed that practice.

I was able to buy some Poly-fil brand 100% polyester bonded quilting material which is about 1/2 inch thick uncompressed. The package says it is "medium loft". Would this be satiafactory to use, stapled every 2 inches? I think this may be the USA equavalent of
British BAF wadding.
Thanks!

I also just ordered 1 square yard of 3/8 inch thick jute headliner padding. Should I wait the week it will take to get here for that to come in? I wll. if it is going to sound significantly better than the 1/2 inch bonded quilting I have on hand.
