G'day guys,
I'm very new to recording. I just bought a cheap Behringer guitarlink USB interface on the understanding that I could whack a mike into it, as well as a guitar, obviously not at the same time. Has anyone recorded vocals with this?
I plugged an admittedly cheap mike in and could only get anything when I tapped on the mike. Not much good for singing ... Guitar works fine
I'm obviously not a conisseur but it's a bit wack if I can't record some vocals. Not looking for great quality just something. Any tips?
cheers
Nick

Thanks.
Ah righto. Do you think I could use my guitar amp? It's a vox15r and it has a line out as well as a plug out to an external speaker.

Yeah. I've tried and failed to get any significant signal from the mike. Bloke at the shop said I could use it to run a mike into. Not so. I'll try and take it back later today.
Thanks for your help mate.

There are various other alternatives, some of which have two mike or line inputs, Tacam do some like that.
It's more expensive, but I suspect it's far more useful for what you're trying to do - plus you could record guitar in one input whilst recording vocals in the other.
