I am currently changing my setup to active speakers, which has been complicated due to the fact I want to use my 8 channel pre-amp for stereo music and 5.1 AV.
For stereo music, the pre-amp will receive 8 channels of x-over'd DSP'd from a PC via HDMI.
These 8 channels will be passed onto my active speaker power amps via the pre-amp outputs (line-level)
For AV, the same pre-amp will receive 5/7.1 from a media player via HDMI.
In this scenario, the pre-outs need to be connected differently;
o The L/R outputs will be sent to misiDSP for x-over/DSP, then split and connected to the active speaker power amps
o The centre/surroundLR will be connected to their respective power amps
So in summary, my active speaker power amps need to receive a signal either from my pre-amp (for music) or a miniDSP (for movies) and somehow auto-switch
I'm thinking of a simple solution with 8 relays (1 for each channel) - when no power is applied to the relays, my active-amps receive the signal direct from the pre-amp, but when the relays are powered up, the connection changes to the miniDSP.
Therefore I would be grateful if someone could recommend a suitable relay for this application. I'm not sure if a relay will impact SQ, or whether the impact will vary depending on whether the relays are energized or nor
Help/advice appreciated

I can recommend Omron G6K series miniature relays for line level switching. There are also Takamisawa miniature relays which are frequently used for line level switching.

Seems complicated. Why not use DPDT types to switch two channels at a time; Non-Latching Relays | RS Components

Exactly what seems complicated?? The fact I need 8 relays?
Thanks to the link to the RS site - can you recommend a particular brand?
Latching relays would be better in this application.
If you use 5VDC for the relays I recommend the following:
I personally like 4.5V Panasonic AGN2104H.
reliable single coil DPDT type.
Mouser No: 769-AGN2104H.
Omron 6GK anyway are a very good choice. Here is a 4.5V omron equivalent.
Mouser No: 653-G6JU-2PY-DC4.5
This project on Amb.org is a DIY project that can be configured for your needs I guess.
