Recommendations for cheap receiver with PRE out

Hello,

I'm going to be starting a solid state amp project soon, but dont want to use my existing preamp for testing. Can someone recommend a cheap, under $50 receiver or integrated amp that has PRE OUT and MAINS IN. I would buy from Ebay. There are literally thousands of auctions for old receivers, but its a lot work to look through the pictures and descriptions. Please recommend some common Model numbers that come up on Ebay and I can search for those. This will also be doubling as my garage stereo setup.

I've been lurking for quite a long time, but I must say these forums are awesome!

2nd on NAD

An NAD 7020 is a giant killer receiver with a decent phono section. You won't get one for $50 thou. I keep 2 7020s around for backup service (currently using both in my HT as just power amps -- one on the sub). Older NADS (ie 7030) don't have separate pre outs IIRC.

An Advent 300 would also fit the bill, but might go for even more (even thou not as good) as the 7020.

Both these were cheap so parts tend to go (switches, pots in particular).

Quite a few older receivers have very clearly defined pre/tuner/power amp sectins and it wouldn't be much effort to steal a tape in/out and wire it as pre/power out/in.

I have to agree, NAD makes a fine amp. I have a c340, I think it is the cheapest integrated they sell now (I could be wrong). It has two nice options; Soft Clipping Switch and Tone Defeat. It cost me about $500(CAN) so thats about what, $100 US!
