I plan on replacing the old and tired amps on a pair of Mackie SRM450 powered speakers with a 1000asp in each speaker. Looking to add a sensitivity control (pre-amp?) and a clip light. Any thoughts on how to add these in?
Preamp just needs to be something simple (opamp-based) with a volume pot in front and the ability to drive the ICEpower's low-ish input impedance. I doubt you'll need much (if any) gain, but having the option is of course good. Plenty of suggestions available online 🙂
Information on how to add the clipping indicator LED to the built-in circuitry of the 1000ASP should still be in the datasheet (or maybe the Designer's Manual).

See page 18 in the ASP1000 manual on how to add a clip LED.
These amps are very high quality. I have four of them that I’ve put though all kinds of torture over the years, with absolutely no problems. My only complaint is that the gain is a bit too high.
@Nisbeth - didn’t you work for ICEpower? Maybe you still do…
