I have a Hitachi receiver 1 with a blown channel. the transistors are one 2SA1492 & 2SA3856 per channel. The other smaller heatsinked transistors are 2SA957 & 2SC2167 one each per channel. I cannot find the outputs transistors anywhere.. Can anyone recommend a suitable drop in replacement for them? Will that require I change the smaller transistors as well? I think the smaller ones may be blown on the blown channel as well but dunno for sure.. I accidentally friend my multimeter with a microwave transformer and a poorly thought out voltage divider so I cant check em yet..
Hi, Jared
Make sure you replace the drivers also. Preferably with originals.
As replacements for the 2SA1492 you could try the 2SA1986 or the 2SA1294 and complements.
The driver transistors 2SA957 could be replaced by the 2SA1079 or the 2SA1133 and complements.
Measure the bias transistor as well. (if any)
/Hugo - fried his nice Fluke one day on the HT of an old TV.

Sajti, aren't the 2SA1494/2SC3858 other case styles?sajti said:2SA1494/2SC3858

/Hugo 🙂
I have some of them, and the have same case as you can see in the "Fake Sanken" topic (I don't know the code of it). Wide plastic, with two holes for screws.

Strange, in my datasheets the 2SA1492 comes in a TO3P style and the 2SA1494 has those whings on the sides. 😕

haha thats funny, this was a fluke meter too.. was IBM standard issue back when my father was a tech... Looking around for a replacement I realized pretty quickly I was not going to get somehting as nice as I had without spending a lot more money than I want on a DMM.
Will these still work?
I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CASE DIFFRENCE.
I have a BG Blazer 500 watt. Older one about 10 years ago.
Thanks

Sorry,
I made mistake! The 2SA1492 has smaller case than 2SA1494.
