Hey guys. I just recived word from 3m that some samples of there dual brightness, reflecting film, etc are in the mail. This stuff is like $500 per 10 sheets. I'll keep you posted on how well it works for projecting with only the LCD backlight. The DBEF works by directing all the light to go through the lcd streigt and not at an angle. This should increase the brightness of the baclight my up to 70% which will greatly improve the picture brigtness when projecting using only the lcd's backlight.
Hey verbose can you send me a couple of sheets of the DBEF or give me the link to 3M samples page for it?
Interesting thought verbose, However how much light honestly can the lcd's native backlight give off? and even if it was preaty bright how would you focus it? a fresnel in front of the lcd like normal?
Wow! Way to wake up an old thread. Actually, when a delta IV lens is placed directly onto a 5" lcd, you can project an image a little brighter than the 100" bigscreen tv fresnel thing, but it is clear and crisp 🙂. Not worth the resolution though.
Property, if you do a little searching on google, you'll have no problem finding the form to request free samples.
