I would like to build a protection panel for two Leak 2060. I received these speakers without a protector panel and its clothing. Which material I should choose ? Plywood, polymer or carton board? The panel will fit in an aluminum section, I will keep it in place with velcro.
Do you mean a grille? The original probably used Tygan but any acoustically transparent stocking material will work. Plywood or thin MDF would work for the frame.
Colin,
I thank you for you answer. Yes I would mean grille. Acoustically transparent, it is my concern. I fear about vibration. How much thick the plywood need to be ? I am not sure to be able to find so tiny MDF. Tygan is the cloth, I found on Ebay and on Falcon website. It seems to be more important than the structure to hold it on the speaker ?

The original grilles appear to be constructed of hardboard, probably no more than 1/8th of an inch thick. How much thick the plywood need to be ?
To avoid vibration, they need to be Velcro'd on securely.

Hi,
is it your speakers on the photo? What is hardboard, wood dust with glue or cellulose with glue? It seems very fragile, I understand why mine not survived. Tweeters don't seem the same than me with its blue translucid dome.
Thank you for your reply.

Hardboard, or HDF, is denser, stronger and harder than MDF.

P.S. Not my speakers - stock photo. 🙂
