Thanks b767. I'll look these over carefully.
This unit shares output silicon with a Carver M500 and I found some info in this Transistor Substitution thread.

Great info on the STA-2080! Sure would love to see all the documentation you have on this great machine!
Hi LawnTractorNut, what do you need specifically. I have owners manual and service manual. let me know and ill help out.Great info on the STA-2080! Sure would love to see all the documentation you have on this great machine!
Thanks for the quick reply b767! My 2080s right side heat sink is over heating, which tells me the bias has to be adjusted. I could use any material for the heat sinks and the calibrations they need.
Thanks

Got The Manuals! Got Her Fixed!
Just like to thank my friend Mr. B. in New York for sending the manuals I needed to repair my STA-2080! Here are 2 pictures in the wrong order, but what the hell! lol! The first is the 2080 when I brought it home after the reapirs, it's missing the wooden side panels, because I am having new ones made from real Walnut. Hats off to Rick from Ricktronics in Brighton Ontario Canada for the repair job he did, this brute sounds incredible, he did a awesome job! Thanks Rick!

Before and After Pics Of My STA-2080
Had the 2080 gone over after I recieved the owners manual and the complete service manual, the tuner was repaired, heatsink working normaly, after bias was adjusted, all transistors and diodes tested, bad caps replaced, all ciruit boards removed and cleaned, and all new LED lights installed. I bought a 3ft piece of Walnut and made new side panels, had to plane the wood quite a bit, then sanded it by hand with 80 grit, then 120 grit, then 220 grit and finished it with 300 grit, then stained it with a clear stain 3 times, no more vaneer. I'm real happy with all the work done to this awesome stereo, and I really enjoy the amazing sound. I posted some pictures of the 2080, the first 2 are the before pics, and the last 4 are the after pics, hope you guys enjoy them.

Big brute
You certainly do not need to lust after a very large receiver. Done!
I appreciate the inspiration to remake the walnut endcaps. I have several candidates.

The Biggest Brute
I think I will start to search for the biggest Brute of all time the Pioneer SX-1980 which pushes 270 watts of raw power and weighs 78 lbs.

Anyone on this site know anything about the Realistic Mach One 4024 speakers from the late 1970s, would like to hear anything you know!
