I'm looking for information on the Realistic STA-2080 receivers. I've done the web search thing; there doesn't seem to be much meat on that bone. I need something I can really chew on. So I'm asking the broad question, and might go for more details if I can turn up something here. I have a unit that needs some DIY TLC.
I guess it's not looking too good. There is a previous thread here about this receiver, but again not much in the way of info I'm looking for. By all accounts though this is a well-regarded Radio Shack amp. It's certainly big, heavy, and attractive. I was hoping to find someone who had some previous experience with its internals. I have no documentation for it. I suppose this might be an opportunity to create some info on my own docs, to share with the next person in my current situation.
Hey I have an STA2080. Still have the instruction book. I need to get a 7 amp fuse for it but I have had no luck finding one. I'm in Canada & our Radio Shack stores are now the Source but they no longer have or sell the fuses. Anyone know where they are available?
Radio shack is cellular shack =useless
mouser/ digikey is "the source" in N. america.
Sta-2080 =1. every cap is bad 2. cheaply outsourced Japanese receiver.
3. could be worth something to a collector of classic audio.
Best bet , ebay a "for parts or repair" adcom , hafler , or other 20$ auction.
You would really have something to repair/redo ... then.

Radio Shack used to include the schematic with many of their products. So... does your STA-2080 book have a schematic?
What type of 7A fuse? Is it AGC glass tube, but you can't find the 7A value?

Hi Sofaspud, im new to site. trying to figure out how to navigate website, can you help me on how to post pictures. I have picture of transistors parts list and power transistors P.C.B., want to send to you. just having a little trouble doing so. Im still under moderator review, dont know how long that last. But as soon as i figure this out i'll get you this info. Don't know if exchanging emails is legal, so wont ask.

Thanks much. Could you tell me what the letter codes are that are in parentheses following the parts listings?

Hi Sofaspud, sorry went out to Academy Records, got some new vinyl. Im sending a few more pics, let me know if u need a specific P.C.B. board wiring diagram. Not sure on suffix for transistors, service manual legend does not provide that info. Im not an electronic engineer, but im sure someone on here can help you out.

hFE / beta ranks. You'll also find these in the datasheets for the respective transistors with the ranges they correspond to.Could you tell me what the letter codes are that are in parentheses following the parts listings?
No apologies necessary. Especially for new vinyl! I see no more pics, but that's probably alright. I had gleaned from the web that this receiver is "prone to channel failure", and that is the problem with mine. So knowing the outputs is helpful info. My best guess is that the letter codes are schematic and/or circuit board navigation aids, so wouldn't be particularly necessary. But if anyone knows for sure I'd appreciate that info. Thanks sgrossklass!

Dear Sofaspud, here you go. I hope they help out, let me know what you find. Let me know if I can provide any further documentation, I have been fortunate with my STA-2080 very few problems. Plus I have two backups and a parts unit i picked up cheap. I have a Hitachi HT-550 turntable, love it. Let me know if you run across a parts unit for sale or just one for sale.
