Hello,
Just trying to get some feedback on what peoples thoughts are on how important auto eq is on a subwoofer.
If presented a choice on a subwoofer with and without auto eq but both have 10 PEQ's on the input and 10 on the output, which would you choose?
The price difference would be an additional $250 for the auto eq?
Cheers

I have never heard an auto-eq get it 100% right but if you can manually adjust then that will help.
Running 10 PEQ's is invitation to messing things up, I run an active sub with LPF and level controls only and with careful positioning I find it works particularly well.
What Make/Models are you talking about ?.

I have Audyssey MultiEQ on my Marantz NR1603NR AVreceiver, used it with a 2.1 setup. It worked fine for me. I agree that a specifically and expertly designed EQ setting is better, by autoEQ is better than no EQ and can already sound very good.
But, Audyssey came built into the AVR and was also EQing the mains. I don't think I would use and pay extra for "just" a subwoofer with autoEQ built-in. If you have a HT-system, your AVR is likely to already have autoEQ. If you have a stereo-only system with loose components etc I don't think you will like setting loose an autoEQ subwoofer in that system.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your feedback.
Interesting point on having the extra features that people can mess it up. My bet is that most people would use auto eq then possibly lightly tune it to their own tastes. But people do mess with thing s that they dont understand.
These are products that i have designed and releasing next year.
Cheers
