Hi There
I have this amp which just stopped working. No Power.
I opened it up and so far I’ve spotted 2 resistors that look like they’ve heated up. On the right.
No schematics ,so only have visuals at the moment.
Any help would be good.
I’ve got it’s bigger brother (IPS3700) aswell with the same fault but leaving that one for now.
Cheers 🍻

C2 is testing short when switched on. Unplugged. C1 is not.
C1 - 93nf.
C2 - 9.7nf.
Both in circuit.

The Amp is blowing a 13 amp fuse in the plug. The original was blown which I didn't know.
I hooked it up ,switched it on and there were sparks and R1 and R12 have been affected.
😆

The main caps need replacing on the 2700 so I decided to have a look at the other amp. The 3700. Looks like it’s the same on that one aswell. 😃
The amp ,not only blew the fuse in the plug ,but ,blew the fuse in the extension cable plugged into the wall socket. Must have pulled over 13 Amps. Never seen that before either.
The only caps I can find so far are Chinese or smaller capacity. I’m wondering if the originals were actually what was on the label. Would 12k nichicons ,which will fit ,be better than 15k Chinese ones.
Size is always the issue. Why are the 15k ,bigger in known brands ,but smaller when they’re Chinese. Not all ,but a few are. The Chinese ones are not nearly as good or up to spec. Originals are 35mm x 72.5mm in both 15k -80v and 10k - 120v. I’m doubting their capacity. How can they be the same size.?
Can you imagine what caps you could put in if the transformer had been outside the amp. You could have more smoothing than you’d ever need in there. 😃
