The shield can achieve adequate coverage with lots of fine copper.
But coverage drops when too little copper is used.
I can't see any Blue Jeans data for shield resistance.
A general guide is that shield resistance is very approximately 50% to 25% of the core resistance.
Those two numbers (core and shield resistances) give a good guide to how much copper is in the cable.
It is important even for short cables.

'Similar product to previous posts with the possible exception that the plugs look a bit flimsy and may work loose where the outer ring should grip the socket.

Surprisingly (to me :) those plugs are Far better in real life than their provenance suggests.
I've bought those in the past (cheaper as made cables than the individual purchase of even those V inexpensive RCAs')
Certainly Not Soundcraft items, but decent /usable.
Add in a bit of ones' wire preference for quick easy DIY cables.
As above; spend savings on preferred Intoxicants Or Gawd Forbid; recordings

From the above BJC web-page.
LC-1 Audio Cable Specs:
Resistance, shield: 1.7 ohms/1000 feet

Oh, I see! for the other cables, you have to hunt around.
Subwoofer Cables from Blue Jeans Cable

Canare LV-77S:
Resistance, shield: >1.8 ohms/1000 feet

Belden 1505F:
Resistance, shield: 2.4 OHMS/1000 FT

Belden 1695A Coax:
Resistance, shield: 2.8 OHMS/1000 FT.

Sorry, I mis-remembered that they were all on the same page.

Note that Bill Whitlock recommends the equivalent of about 14AWG which is 2.5 Ohm/ 1000 feet.

Bruno Putzeys suggested a much heaver shield on a DIY cable:
Take a coaxial cable, take the jacket (sheath) off and dress it in a number of extra layers of shield salvaged from other cables. Hear the sound improve...
