i was wondering, if it might be worthwhile to upgrade these op amps in a subwoofer plate amp since the frequencies are so limited or, not worth the trouble? if so, what would be some good choices of op amps to upgrade to. thanks! 🙂
I've used TL072/82's as "drop-in" replacments in a few various circuits using the 4558..
A couple time's i've had stability issues (a subwoofer X-over,and something else,i forget.) so you'll want to keep an eye out for that.
Maybe not the best op-amp,but probably a bit better than the 4558,and it's J-fet too.
My cheap Sony CD changer sounds better with 82's in it,than it did with the 4558's.
