Pics of my completed RB's

I made these with the MK1 kit.

http://www.1414audio.com/Recession_Buster_Speakers.html

They sound fantastic powered from my 3875 gainclone as well as my 10wpc Super T-Amp.

Here is the build breakdown:

3/4 MDF for cabinets.

10mil paper backed Birch veneer applied with DAP contact cement. Sanded with 150, then 220 to remove paper and glue left by the flush trim bit I used on my router.

One coat Minwax Prestain.

One coat Minwax Red Oak 21.

Two coats Minwax Polyurethane.

The poly was the hardest part to get perfect (and it's not). I applied the first coat with a rag then lightly sanded using 220, removing dust with tack cloth. I applied the second coat with a brush. I then took a paper bag wrapped around a wood block and rubbed everything again. This seems to take out any micro small dust particles and bubbles.

DIY is fun!

Increasing BSC?

Hi everyone,

Earlier in the thread there was quite a bit of discussion regarding BSC for the RB kit, but interest appeared to have fizzled.

I have just built mine, and initial listening test tells me that i need perhaps 2dB more BSC. This may be related to the depth of my cabinet that is preventing close placement to wall. (Btw i built a pair in each cabinet, each pair of woofer + tweeter driven from unmodified crossover)

How would i go about increasing the BSC? There are some BSC calculators that can give the L and R values based on the speaker resistance, baffle width, amount of attenuation etc. Can these be connected at the input to the crossover, without modifying the kit crossover?

Also, looking at RB2 kit crossover schematic, it appears to have slightly more BSC (1-2dB?) compared to RB1 kit. Can i just 'copy' the woofer crossover (since its the same woofer) to get the increased BSC?

Thanks!!
