Hello
Does anyone have any experience with RAAL ribbons? I am wandering how easily they could be damaged by children poking fingers into them. My kids love pushing in dust caps!

The ribbon is exposed on most models so very easily damaged by kids
.
Edit:
Bah............looking at the Madisound pictures it appears that they ARE covered by a small mesh screen, so perhaps they are protected somewhat. Anything can be damaged by a child if they are determined enough.

The screen is somewhat durable, much more so than an unprotected dome. But as David stated, a determined child could still damage them. IIRC, replacement ribbons are cheap though.
You could protect them further by making a simple screen in front of them, either flat or curved. Perforated metal mesh with hexagonal holes has a very large open area and would be plenty strong enough to protect from damage. Here's an example: Perforated material punched with hexagonal holes
Yeah, the screen material(think a screened in porch) seems to be plastic and could be easily torn through. But, the ribbons ARE affordable and pretty easy to replace if you have a little heat gun to re-tension the ribbon once installed.

Yeah, that place is good. They made my grills for the rear of my baffles. They'll do a roundover on the edges too which can help avoid a sharp corner for little fingers to find.

You could possibly remove the mesh that they use and install grill cloth instead, may have more strength to stop fingers reaching the ribbon. Don't know the effect on the sound but would be no different to installing external grilles l assume.

And for some reason he doesn't want people on mobile devices to be able to view it, which is just odd.😕
