First,
Have you asked them about which lcds you want to use? I say because I thought there are still different lvds interfaces out there.
Second, thats a pretty steep price. Even the one for $300 is just the board with , video and audio on board right? There is no cpu, memory?
Whats wrong with the Via itx mother boards?

I did ask them about using one of the sgi panels with the motherboard. The response they sent me was a mostly generic response. They included a phone number if I had any more questions. But that's just too expensive.

I don't personally think the via cpu's are powerful enough for much of anything. They are just enough for a media box, but about useless for games. I would build a via mini itx pc as a file server or some such, but not a htpc, since I personally want my htpc to do so much more than play dvd's and vid files.
I'm probably going to end up building a nice shuttle and forgetting lvds for now.

Guys,
The VIA would definately be inadequate for games but I wonder if it would work for DVD playback. Does anyone know. I am stunned at those mini motherboard prices. I didn't expect them to be more than 20 -30 % more than standard motherboards.
It might be worth investigating if anyone makes a full sized ATX motherboard with build in LVDS.
Here is another mini motherboard with the older 845 graphics chip. I wonder if it is any less money.

OpenLDI uses LVDS, DVI-D uses TMDS
Hallo.
this is bothering me ...
many of the DVI-D AGP gfx cards: ATI; Raedon, Nvidia Geforce mx series,
all have Dual LVDS transmitters built into the boards.
i've searched for about a week finding nothing linking 1600sw to these gfx card except with the multlink ($$$$).
If these common AGP Geforce etc's support LVDS, why cant they bypass the need for an external adapter/converter since they have Dual LVDS OnBoard??
can anyone help here please 😱
Cheers😀

Ultra-Flex sells a graphics adapter from DVI to LVDS it is for the SGI 1600SW
It is a PCI card but only needs the power. It can be modified for stand alone operation.
I believe sharper Technology also sells the same card.
