Hi all, I need to record some Vynil on my PC. I'm using Wavelab 5.0 on XP. A creative 24Bit Live Soundblaster, aand I use a Panasonic SL-H302 DC Servo Automatic Turntable with cheap MM cartridge. And my pre is an Intergrated Pioneer SX-680 Reciever.
Not the best items, the turntable is Silver and the Reciver is too, I have the TTable on a concrete floor. Is there anything I can do to get the best out of this setup. I thought of screwing the TTable to the floor, and adding some mass to its plastic case/plinth due to vibration.
Is this wise??
Cheers Mikee55

If you are only using it to record, turn off the speakers and don't move around the room (footfall) when doing so and vibration will be reduced for free.
Ideally, the turntable should be level, so you need a bubble level to check this from side to side and front to back. Putting the TT on the floor is fine if it's concrete just make sure to shim it up and get it level.
