Is there a big difference between 640x480 and 600x800 when watching movies off a overhead projector lcd panel combo?
And if so:
Is it worth it to spend an extra $100 to buy a 600x800 lcd projection panel or should I just get a 640x480?

Not a big difference, it’s actually a “smaller” difference as in smaller pixels. Lol jk. I know, I know, that was lame. In my experience $100 more should get you from 640x480 to 1024x768 not just to 800x600. Projector panels are very obsolete. The only panel that I personally would spend more than $200 for is the Sharp QA-2500. You could try going to a store that sells regular projectors and see if you can demo a couple with those resolutions and compare them. It really comes down to the eyes of the person watching. Some people have really good eyes and can see the screen door very easily. Others cant as easily.
