Andrew, the plan was for a compensated / equalised drive unit that in theory should be more-or-less 8R. However, having reconsidered, and knowing how telerances and miscalculation can intrude, I agree with your suggestion to allow extra current capability and I will do so.
Dan, thank you for the explanation. (I knew TO-3 as metal can, however I now realise that TO-3P is flat, which will package fine).
