i know all of us are looking for the holy grail of diy displays, ie great constrast, native resolution, color, frame rate, price, ease of disassembly and mainupulation on an ohp.....
i have a question regarding lcd monitors we all seem to be going to. as price comes down we all seem to be upgrading to monitors over panels. SO, when looking for panels to get the best CURRENT available picture, we are looking for xga monitors...
Lets say my progressive scan has component output(PrPgPb) rather than composite output(rca's). does this mean i can plug my dvd DIRECTLY into a monitor which has analog rgb input?
or do i need some type of controller to input (say a computer with a card which has component in and out. i am seeing alot of new monitors that have analog rgb input rather than a vga/svga/xga/sxga cable. i would like to steer away from a computer and card setup and stick with a stand alone dvd player or at least a tv-4000 and then the 15 inch monitor.... even if it means only getting svideo into the tv-4000. i see best buy is now selling a converter like the tv-4000 for xga.)not sure if its component in or just svideo BUT it claims to be hdtv reay to send to your monitor via hdtv converter....
any thoughts on the subject or advice?🙂

did some more reading
did some more reading up.
this was a prety good page...progressive scan explained
so what im asking is can we plug a dvd player DIRECTLY into a lcd monitor with Pt,Pb,Y component imput if that is the same as analog rgb input?
or do you have to use a tv-4000?
or am i just not reading this information right and the question is moot.
