Question on multiple batteries, temporary setup

Hello all, I read through a few threads and this seems like a pretty informative discussion group. I hope you can help me...

My system is a pretty decent sized setup, 5 amps, DVD player and visor monitors. I run an Optima Yellow top and 2 1 farad caps which handles the system pretty well, when the car's running.

The problem Im having is when I'm at a car show... being outside there arent any facilities to hook up constant power, and my battery always dies halfway through the show... I play it at a low volume but with everything on, it still kills the battery. I know the Yellow Top is great for fast discharge but doesnt hold a sustained charge under constant load very well.

What I'm looking to do is run a small set of jumper cables from my old stock battery unobtrusively, which I think will hold a much longer charge than the Optima during a show. The thing is that its a lead acid battery and I hear they dont play well with spiral cell batteries (?). Also can I run this connection as parallel without any problems? I'll disconnect the yellow top completely if I need to but I'd really prefer to leave everything intact.

Thanks!!

What lead-acid batteries really hate is deep discharges. This is a fast way to kill that old battery. Besides, it will look much cooler to have 2 batteries properly mounted. If the batteries have different discharge charicteristics, they can discharge each other, possibly at dangerous rates.
