hey everyone, i have a question for all you people w/ experience in these things, will an 80 watt powered mixer w/ the specs as follows, : 8 0hms per speaker out 80 watts 6 channel stero, drive 2 cabs, each cab is 2x12 w/ 4x10 tweeter, and the cabs are 300 watt consistant w/ 600 watt peak, if this isn't loud enough for gigs say, around 100 peop[le will my 130 watt guitar amp drive it using the powered mixer as a preamp?(guitar amp is also 80hms as well as the speakers)
Well... Humm.. Maybe...
It will not sound very good and also the continuous power of a guitar amp is a lot lower than what's stated in the spec. So the power output of the guit amp will be very near the one of the powered mixer .

Hi trip-wire,
First of all we should know what you're exactly doing at those gigs. DJ'ing or a live band? What style of music is played?
From my experience I'd generally say you need a power amp with more juice. Your speakers seem to be sufficient, but if you use them along with that power mixer you should be careful not to blow them. As JBL pointed out, you CAN of course use your guitar amp, but you shouldn't expect high sound quality.

we're a live band, we're 1 guitarist(singer) bassist and drummer
we play moderate rock and as soon as a have the money i'm gettin a 600 watt power amp but i just wanna kno if that will suffice untill then

Key missing spec: sensitivity of the speakers.
I don't cherish Bud, but Chimay is a different story.

trip-wire,
which instruments are to be reinforced by your PA?
Given your amp is so small and assuming the guitarist and the bassist have their own backline, I would suggest you only run vocals through it. I don't know how loud you play, you have to try out by yourselves if the powermixer has enough juice for your purpose. But be careful when cranking up the volume - I can't tell how good your amp is, if it has any limiters or protection circuit. If the small amp at some point starts to clip, it wil blow your speakers. I'm not too much into details concerning power amp circuitry and how it works, perhaps somebody else can explain??

Well, you d'ont need a lot of power if you do not run the bass in the pa. The guitar amp IMO will not be more powerful than the powerd mixer in this application.
Having a compressor in those situation is very useful. If you compress the whole mix enough you could get quite a good volume with only 80 watt.
Also if their is a low cutoff switch on the mixer use it it really spare some power.
So in conlusion I think that it will work.
