Question for Me Nelson Pass about XA100.5

Dear Mr Pass,

first of all I would like to thank you for your formidable instrument. It makes great music. For the moment I use a XA100.5 with a pair of WA Sasha and I would like to combine the XA100.5 with a ARC Ref5. I would need your point of view on the technical side. My question comes from a reflection :
" the input impedance of the XA160.5 is 30/20 Kohms (Bal/SE) and while the nominal impedance output of the Ref 5 is 600/300 ohms (Bal/SE), if it's like the Ref 3 it's output impedance gets close to 1.7Kohms somewhere in the 100-200Hz range I believe, so if the partnering amp is not of sufficiently high input impedance the match up tends to sound bass shy/thin."

So as I'm not a specialist, would it be possible to know if you see any technical conflict or problems if I associate the XA100.5 and REF5?

Many thanks for your help.

Jean-Paul

Our experience is no problems at all with the ARC or CJ products with
regard to interface. The amp doesn't care about source impedance. It's
actual input impedance is close to 0 ohms, and the input impedance spec
comes from the resistors we put in series with that input. Adding a little more
from the source doesn't create issues.

Many thanks for your answer, I will give you a feedback about the association. I'll try to make a comparison with your new preamp XP30. Can you describe us a little this new preamp and what we can hope from it compared with the XP20?
