question Denon DP-35F turntable set-up

Would some happen to know what the purpose is of the adjustment as in the enclosed photo, this as used on my Denon DP-35F turntable?
I do have manual, and also the service manual but nothing is mentioned about this adjustment. Your help is welcome. Wim.

The service manual is not clear on this as an adjustment but I suspect it is to set the clearance height of the stylus when setting play or a eject.

You are right on this. I just checked. So when the arm goes up to go to postion to play, the white plastic part does touch the base of the turntable, if it is on the postion the arm will lower and play starts to play, at that moment the white plastic part is free from the base of the turntable, it just 1-2 mm or so. Porblem solved, thanks.
