I'm thinking about building a plate amplifier to use in my custom 12" subwoofer. I want to use the Hypex UcD400, SMPS400 and a 40v torodial transformer. What is the best way to go about controlling things like gain, phase, crossover frequency, etc... Is there some kind of a pre-made board I can use for this application?
Also, is the SoftStart module a must for this application?
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. It will be my first amplifier build.

If your going to use a SMPS400 to power a UcD400 module what do you want the 40v Torodial for? I think you need to do a bit more research into what you are planning on doing.
If you want to keep it simple maybe go for a MiniDSP and a ConnexElectronic powered amp module.

I'm sorry, had read about the SMPS400 on another forum and was unaware that it had an onboard transformer. I was originally considering building my own power supply and using the 40v torodial, but I suppose the SMPS400 simplifies things a bit.
What are your opinions on the MiniDSP?
