so wear latex gloves? and also should i be having this much trouble getting them out of the board? is desoldering braid a neccessary for this job? ive never used it on xbox mobos or anything like that
Apply new solder to all 3 legs. Lay the iron down so the tip heats all 3 legs at once. While the solder is molten on all 3 legs, pull the transistor out of the board. Desolder the holes with braid or a desoldering pump.
While it's recommended that you use an ESD wrist strap when handling FETs, it's unlikely that you'll damage one unless you're in an area where the humidity is very (VERY) low. I never use one and in 25+ years, I've never damaged an FET when replacing them. Of course, if you were handling expensive static-sensitive ICs, you'd want to wear one.

okay cool. yeh my buddy has 1 of those wristbands but im in alabama and low humidity is so very not a problem lol... also with with output transistors in the board and the meter on diode test mode and pos probe on leg 1 and neg probe on leg 3 the readings were as follows: q701- .544 q702- .544 q703- .546 q704- .546...this sound normal for the output transistors?
They're probably OK but don't only check from leg 1-3. Check 1-2, 1-3 and 2-3. None should show anything near 0 ohms.
will do...after many cuss words and feet of desoldering braid i finally got the supply transistors out.. the readings are as follow: q22- .511 q21- .510 q20- blown q19- .512 q18- .511 q17- .511
Those look OK.
Check the resistor that connects to the gate of the blown FET to confirm that it's within tolerance.
Did you try laying the iron down across the legs to remove the FETs? Using that method, it shouldn't have taken more than a few seconds to remove each one.

yeh i tried but it wouldnt work im usin a 40watt and idk why but it wouldnt heat it up good enuf to get all 3...and what should the resistor be measuring and where is it lol
The gate resistors are connected to the first leg of the power supply FETs. They all should read 47 ohms ±5%.
While the FETs are out of the circuit, measure the DC voltage in the solder pads for the gate of each power supply FET. You should read ~5v DC.

there is or was nothing connected to the first leg so im not sure what you mean on that one but on the pads theyre all fine so whats next to test lol....am i near the part where u say ok ur amp can be fixed and heres what u need or is there a ton more testing to do xD
i looked on both sides but found nothin that resembles a resistor but ill take a pick n upload it after work and let u see if u can show me..other than that does all sound ok? am i still gonna have 2 replace all 6 transistors or just the 1?
