Actually, at Don Audio, which is likely the German dealer you are referring to, a set of two mono transformer kits is cheaper than the bundle for the Poddwatt. Not sure what the rationale is, but it was already like that when I bought mine and I was happy about it 😀.
I think both variants are fine. With one PT, the case can probably be a bit smaller, but the Hammond I used is spacious for the dual mono approach too. With two PTs, channel separation is probably a bit better.

Yes it was Don Audio, and that is a (relatively) great price for two mono kits. I got a partial refund as the power transformer arrived with rust under the paintwork, so I cleaned it up and sprayed it black.
