Hello fellow life forms,
I am a newbie in electronics and I love diy audio so I started building my cMoy headphone amp from scratch (a single channel mono amp as im learning). The problem is I don't understand how input signal will be fed to the circuit and how the output will be fed to my headphones.
The circuit diagram shows one wire as IN, one wire as OUT and there are few ground wires. Now, my mp3 player will output 2 wires, one signal and one center and my question is:
Do I connect the center wire from the mp3 player to the Amp's ground?
If I do, should I connect the center wire for the output to ground also
Or should I don't connect the center wire to the amp at all and connect the center wire from the mp3 player directly to the headphones?
Also, does all ground connections have to be connected with each other in this amp?
I am attaching a link to the pdf of the amps circuit, please guide me.

The centre pin is usually the signal, and the outer sleave the GND connection, I would check this first for your MP3 player.
Hi,
There is very little point building a mono version,
its barely more complicated to go stereo.
rgds, sreten.

Your headphone, if stereo ones, will have 3 "rings" on the plug. The large part is a common connection to both drivers (left and right) and the tip and middle rings the feeds to the drivers. So you connect the large common section of your headphone plug to the ground on the cMoy and then connect either one or both (if you want both both drivers to work) the tip and middle parts of the plug to the output of the cMoy.
The output of most mp3 players is stereo and follows the same pattern as above. You connect the output ground to the cMoy ground and the mp3 output to the cMoy input.
Practical tip 🙂
Before you connect headphones measure the DC voltage on the output of the cMoy and ensure it is 0volts. Anything else and you have a connection or construction error.

Thanks a ton guys and Mooly you're a life saver! Your practical tip was the thing i needed THE MOST with my build as I was getting some loud noises through the amp and it turns out the amp is producing dc voltage at the amp output.
I am building this mono amp because I thought it would be easy and I could tell my inner soul that I can really make an amp by myself (only if I could remove the noises and get this amp working). I am going through some depression right now and I thought picking up something creative and simple project will help me go through and as it turns out, I was right!
