Question about cooling fans

fans

You can place one to the side of the light source (intake) and one above the light source (exhaust). Yes, this does let light escape. There are many ways to fix this. Alan over at DIYLabs.org has a way of fixing this that kinda turns the airflow path into an S. You could try using fan ducts that redirect the air flow. I don't know how well that would work, though.

would placing them next to and above the light be better than placing them directly to the sides of the lcd? i was thinking that if they were to the sides of the lcd then the light that would be escaping wouldnt have been used. i dont know is this makes sense or works though

some ppl place them near the LCD. It makes sense to me to place one next to lamp to create and air flow (pulling cool air in) and one above the lamp (exhausting hot air - heat rises). This way, a lot of the heat is dissipated before it can get to the LCD. I think this is enough cooling to keep the heat from damaging your components. I'm still somewhat of a newB, so i could be wrong.
