Hi Thanks for reading There are quite a few ljm quad amp boards available from ali, ebay etc, such as 405. 606, 707. Which do you think will offer the best sound quality, have you heard anything or have any experience
Thank you
Thank you
As it was stated many times before here on forum, be aware most of that boards are based on relatively old version of amplifier... (infact I didn't find 'mk2' as kit anywhere, only as already soldered option)... anyway, best (and most expensive) version is one from dada electronics... as far as ljm, there were boards with quite good reputation (ones with 'small panda' printed on), and at last but not the least, Jim's audio have their PCB... that is as far as 405's...
As for 606/707, Jim's audio have 606 board and LJM have some designs, not as clone but... in one of M or L amp iterations...

Thanks! Yes same here i couldn't find the china clone quad 405-2 in kit form, tried emailing all the different supplier but was told : no
Dada are good, i have their 405-2 boards which i purchased a few years ago, I compared them against the net audio 405-3 which i had purchased the year before that and the dada were better. The stock 405-2 boards when modded were bettter than the net audio.
But it's really the ljm i am interested in, when modded they do sound good and there's not enough of an improvement to justify the expensive dada
I have the china clone 405-2 boards and i am wanting to find out if the 606 or 707 china boards are better, if so, in what way

as far as LJM 606 (707) here you got his answer 😕 https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/quad-707-design-documents.388336/post-7131251
with LJM 'panda' board you can do Keith Snook's 'mod-3', I'm more interested in Jims audio mk2 board I think it might be good 405 base to start....
606 is entirely 'different beast' to 405, same basic principles, but different design 😉

Thanks! It seems like ljm is saying his 606 and 707 are not as good as his 405 / 405-2, but at the same time he says his 405 / 405-2 is not a good amp.
Problem is I purchased but never listened to the stock ljm 405-2, soon as i got the 405-2 I straightaway changed the opamp to opa627, replaced all the caps and signal path resistors.
What do you think. Is the ljm 405-2 a decent amp, why do you think he is criticizing his 405-2

Dada seems to have closed up shop BTW. Check their site and try to find anything Quad related (old quad boards, upgrade kits, DADA remanufactured boards etc etc) are all gone with zero stock.
Thanks! I'm not that interested in dada, they are expensive for what they give, the china clone boards are better value for money
Is there a general consensus on the ljm 606 and 707 boards, how do they compare against the ljm 405 / 405-2

Anyone have any further opinions on the ljm 405 vs 606 vs 707. I followed the link kindly provided by Sith, and ljm seemed to indicate his 606 and 707 boards are not good. But ljm is a contradictory kind of chap because in this post #394 and #396 he says the exact opposite
