QSC vs JBL

I recently bought some Mackie Thump 15s that I was not happy with. They quickly gave out once I pushed them to hard. I learned my lesson. I am a DJ so I'm looking for something better to use. Which Speaker would be better to get QSC or JBL? Which ones are more durable?

QSC is distributed by Shure in the UK, but are they really owned by Shure? I could find no reference to that. When I was in the repair business I was a warranty center for QSC, among many others.

The Thump line is more the entry level product from Loud/Mackie. If you want some more serious touring gear, look into the EAW like, also from Loud. Serious money though. Real serious.

As a DJ, are you using subwoofers? Active (powered) subwoofers? using subs takes some of the stress of your 15" two way. And if you are blowing your horns, you may just not have enough speaker. Speakers are the kind of thing you can self destruct. If you buy speakers that are just enough for your gig, you will blow them eventually. Buy more than enough speaker, and you have some head room. In other words, don't buy a 50 pound rated shelf to set a 50 pound artwork on.

pretty much every speaker manufacturer makes a active 15" two way.

What gave out, the loudspeaker or the built in amp?
Does it matter? From what I gather both components are equally prone to failure, with the pair I had it was the drivers that failed.

A DJ needs a sub, 2 speakers on stands will never deliver the lowend thump you're looking for. I'm a provider and the system I regularly send out for events up to 150ppl is a pair of EV ZLX12p's with a single powered 18" sub like the EV ELX118p. That is $1600-$2000 in speakers and in my opinion it represents the absolute bottom end of acceptable quality and output for a working musician or DJ. Spending any less than this will leave you stranded sooner or later with breakdowns, that is the harsh reality of it. You will also find similar quality systems from JBL, QSC, Yamaha, RCF and others, and of course each one of these manufacturers have more expensive and higher performing speaker lines as well.
