Well, baffle loading will normally allow a lower XO point and can be placed closer to the matching driver, so the preferred location for me or at least mounted to a speaker width baffle if perched on top.

I work for a plumbing distributor. Pipe is not an issue.

If that is really true, it would perhaps be even better to build a tunable model pipe. IE an analog computing model, with the length of the pipe and port being tunable. I’m thinking telescoping pipes with airtight seals.

It would make tuning to your room very simple and would teach you a lot in the process without the hassle of building a cab.

how about adding a little vent at the end of the line ?

Here is one of two tunable PVC TLs. I found some zebrawood veneer leftover from my Carrera build and wrapped the pipe. Doesn't look so much like plumbing now. So far the potential names are:

1. Tin Man
2. Ricola Horn
3. Plumber's Crack

I could tune the length above the driver with a telescoping tube. Make sense?

No, ideally the driver offset is a fixed percentage of total length, normally at 1/3, which equates to 0.349 rather than 0.333 due to the vent's impact on the pipe's 1/4 WL pipe action, so ideally need to have adjustable top and bottom segments plus for max adjustability need one for the vent location [usually at 0.848 - bottom of pipe] and the vent length.
