"Orientate" is another misceganation from that family of glorious words invented by management to justify meetings that produce nothing but memos. Personally, I'd like to diversificate my forward-looking thinking strategies to incorporate all emergent languagification and communication possibilities.

But are they actionable?

That's a tricky one. Many units are named in honour of the pioneer in that field (such as Gauss, or Weber) and we normally capitalise units named after people (as opposed to abstract units like metres or inches). It appears that once a unit has become a generic, it is acceptable for it to lose the mark of respect that capitalisation confers.

hee hee - a great thread meander. Always late to the party, I know 🙄 (It's nice to see that everyone's so good-natured around here).

I got stumped the other day thinking of the right word for this one:

If sight is "visable"
and sound is "audible"
then smell is... "?"
