Another way would be to use a small amp ic like tda2822m or lm386 since its not for audio its for driving LED's in the end, so quality won't matter I guess.
You need the cap for audio use (noise/distortion etc) but if its only to drive LED's then probably not if you are looking to minimise component count.

Not a problem , a cap won't occupy much space .f you are looking to minimise component count.
