Is anyone have an idea of where I could get some real caps for an ALEPH 2 PSU... I am seeking kind of 50000 uF (or more) 63 V units but cannot find anything...any ideas?
And by the way...if the voltage rails are 45VDC, 50 WVDC/63 VDC surge caps would surely fit if I put some film caps in parallel for transient peaks but would it be reliable for a long-term period?
Asking this because I saw 68000uF 50V caps on Apex Jr.'s site:

If you can read German:
"Special" audio caps
http://www.thel-audioworld.de/bauteile/elkos/elkos.htm
Did not use these yet, although the specs are promising.
Happy hunting,
Harry

Somehow, I think you could be right.
Just as well, that as I am just starting in this DIY scene, I am beginning with a simple Pass DAC output (Bosoz). I was thinking about these, although I only need 1000uF... I have a tendency of over-engineering when I am not sure.
I'll just follow this thread.
Greetings,
Harry.

Harry,
if you have plans for Aleph's, check marktplaats :
New Rifa169, 10.000uF/100volts, for $10 the piece(box of 20)

The Apex Jr. capacitors will work just fine.
I have theory...but the experience seems to talk a lot better than theory sometimes...
Will a filter cap rated at 63 WVDC last longer than a 50 WVDC on a
+45 V rail?
Is someone encountered some kind of reliability problem running ALEPH 2s on 50WVDC filter caps?

I haven't yet seen a failure of Aleph 2 capacitors, so it's hard to
say, but I doubt there would be a significant life expectancy
difference. Somewhere around 20 years is the life span
guesstimate.
