Hi,
The fan is failing in my proxima projector. The light dims, and goes bright (several times in a 10 min period) The fan is a Nidec Beta SL Do9t-12th 92mm. I would like to replace this fan with a dual ball bearing high quality fan. The new fan would be .2 amps, the old one is .17. Will this change interfere with temp monitoring or RPM monitoring? I attempted to replace the nidec fan with a NMB model, but the projector started then failed with a fast flickering red light. I am not 100 percent sure that fan does RPM monitoring however (old fan has a yellow lead, replacement fan has a white lead) Any suggestions/hints? I really miss my big screen.

Does the original fan have more than 2 (+ & - power) leads?
If so, then it may be a RPM monitor fan.
I doubt is 300 mils (the difference between the original fan & your replacement) would be enough to cause power supply issues. The again, if it does, maybe the fan is not your problem? Maybe the power supply(s) is going.
