I hope I am not asking a stupid question, I have a Proxima 9200 (Ebay) and the focus is out of whack. I removed the cover & started fiddling around with the semi-adjustable (lenses?). It got better, but still not right. Are there any service manuals or standard adjustment techniques that will help me to identify the positionig of each one of the (color transmitters) (RGB)? I have searched for blur and focus, all I get is Infocus and a diy build for a single lcd setup. Thanks,
Brock

I'm in the same boat as you. Did you ever a solution? I haven't had time to crack open the case yet as I just got my 9200.
Help with a Proxima 9200 Projo
Help with a Proxima 9200 Projo
I am attempting to fix my neighbor's Proxima LCD Proector and need some help. Here's the situation:
When powering up the Projo, the main light comes of (we can see the blue screen), Briefly turns white, then turns off. I suspect an over-temp protection circuit is kicking in. All of this takes place in just under 1 second.
The main bulb is "new", but it sat for about a year or so, and this is where we are at. When he bought it a year ago, it worked (he was able to watch about 20 mins), then it sat for about a month before the problem first appeared.
If anyone has any insight or good advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
Steve

I had an old pj that was out of focus because the prism block* that combines the images had slipped.
Oh yeah, you might try blocking the output from each color filter/lcd to see if one is out of focus. For me blue is the brightest and if it is out of focus it makes the rest look blurry as well.
*I don't know what else to call it, looks like 2 prisms glued together.

N-Channel:
I just opened my projector again. The thermistor on the 9200 is right below the small 2" x 3" circuit board over the top of the light bulb (you need to remove the top main board to get at it). It may have gone bad. Try checking it with a multimeter. Mine reads close to 0 ohms at room temp.
Hope this helps. I am not an electrical engineer by any means. I just wish I was. 🙂
justme:
It looks like my video board needs fixing/replacement. I tried to make adjustments but the ghosting is in all three colors (getting at the prism isn't easy on this projector). I'm sure it's a capacitor going bad or something.
Thanks for the info!

Randall,
Thank You Very Much! I will look at this ASAP. This was my next-door neighbor's projo, that we tried to fix last year. They moved just last week, and in the course of moving, they pitched the projo. I noticed it sticking out of the top of their garbage can. Needless to say, I liberated it before the new neighbors arrived (only 10 minutes later). As I understand it, this was a very good model for its day, and i have always wanted a Projo fopr my home theater, rather than a video screen.
Will keep you posted of my progress.
Kindest Regards,
Steve

Proxima DP9200 All Fixed!
Randall,
Thanks for your help on this. I was taking the cover off and noticed a really small fan on the side that was trying to start, but wouldn't spin. I unstuck the blades so that they would spin freely and lo and behold, the next time I powered up the unit it came on and stayed on! Yay!!!
Watched a little bit of Empire Strikes Back on it yesterday. Looked generally good, but there was a little pixelation.
During countdown mode after startup, the word "PROXIMA" is seen against a bluescreen backdrop, and is sharp as a tack, but when watching the movie is when the pixelation is visible. Is this normal??
Thanks Again for your help Randall.
PS, anyone have or know where I can get a manual for this?
Regards,
Steve

No, I didn't, but would like to know where I can get the remote for this. I have it mounted upside-down in the rafters of my basement shining on the white wall. Arm kinda' gets tired pushing all those buttons straight up. I didn't even know there was a service menu! Pretty cool. I will try the 20 sec & hold thing to access the service menu. Will report back on success/failure.
I had the same problem with mine... it seemed as though one or two of the colors was out of alignment. I had a ghosting affect on the left side of all images.
after searching the internet for this issue many times I found this guy who fixed his...
here is the link to the instructions.
I changed all of my settings for veriables in the service menu items 11,12,13 to OOOFF.
Now the picture is where it should be. and the unit is working great!!!!
