Proven design with TDA1541A

Ps: with the condition that the SA7220 is scrapped and burnt on the spot, so as to inhibit further reuse of it anywhere..

Exactly.
Pedja`s design is nice, but there will be need for a heavy-bulky (choke regulated) power supply instead of the usual crappy voltage regulators and some large (polypropylene) decoupling capacitors. Are you ready for the challenge? I doubt it.

I'd have plenty of SAA7220P/B available. Let me know if youre interested. (€10 excl. shipping).

Btw. I have the board proposed from Richard playing here. It's quality is very good, although with the provided DEM cap its having the usual noise problems at -60dB.
I'm waiting for the zeners to arrive to do the FT990 DEM clk mod (similar to Grundig CD9009 mod).

You are pointing out an important 'feature' here..
The bypass caps quality is very important.
Looking at the pic, I had automatically 'associated' to these in link (I have these in TDK production)

Now I could entirely imagine that they skipped over this 'particular' - these caps cost a little bit. Though not too much today..
Then, in my AYA there are Pana PPS caps in place there. They could be applied also here.
But I appreciate the quality and sound of those TDK C0G 1206 ceramics that I have, too..

I was talking about the DEM oscillator cap (pin16,17) value, I've not measured the standard one but I guess it will be 470p.
My impression is that the rest of the DEM decoupling caps well could be C0G type, but who knows. The 100nF 1206 C0G I got from RS look strikingly the same as the ones on the board. Very bright ceramic colour as opposed to the dark brown mostly found with X7Rs.
My intention with this board is to have a most "vintage" sounding reference for all my other efforts with TDA1541As (have 12 of them).

Got one of these boards (attached) to reatain the "original" sound (that means with SAA7220) signature but with the TDAs in balanced operation: attached
