Hello
New to forums and this is my first post😀 Picked up for free a Proton D540, issue is left channel works but with very low output. Right channel works fine and sounds great. Possible speaker relay issue or volume pot issue? If relay, any possible replacement suggestions. Applied contact cleaner to all pots with no luck. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi Digitalcreep,
Welcome to DIYAudio!
I really wish you hadn't started with control cleaner. That stuff removes lubricants as well, and most people pump the control really full.
Is that channel low on all inputs? It could be a relay or a switch contact. The relay should be replaced with the same kind. Look at Mouser and Digikey for relays.

Hi Digitalcreep,
Try the main in with another preamp. Don't stick a line level signal in there! Also, it could just be a poor connection in the loops. Clean the ends of your loops and try it again.
I'm glad you used a small amount of cleaner. It doesn't take much to do the job normally.

Hi Chris
Ok amplifier section works from both channels using different preamp(old Realistic stereo mixer, lol gotta be 30 years old😀) So i guess preamp section is bad on Proton. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help!
