I have a pair of old Polk LS 50s that I want to salvage the drivers out of for a DIY project. Polk will not provide me with the T/S parameters as they say its proprietary information. Is there any way to measure all of the parameters needed or am I going to have to wing it?
If you want a cheap and cheerful method of testing speakers check out Rod Elliot's method on the ESP website. You can use a shareware tone generator for your pc to get the required inputs, and all you need then is a half decent DMM and a resistor. Oh, and a test box for Vas, but you can just knock that together fairly easily, it doesn't have to be pretty!

Thanks pinkmouse, this might be what I do as Im still reluctant to build a jig, a mic, a mic preamp and spend weeks trying to figure out Speaker Workshop. Maybe if I could get by without the preamp I would go that direction.
Since these are just old Polks and Im using a subwoofer with them, Im not too worried about the enclosure. Im more concerned about the crossover though, as I want to build a new one for them. The stock crossover seems fairly basic, especially for the woofers.
