Proposed half-sonotube speakers

I have a pair of 8" neo speakers I want to mount in individual lightweight cabs for use both with small guitar amp setups and for use as a very small portable PA. I'm thinking about getting a short length of Sonotube, cutting it in half lengthwise, and using that as back and sides, with a plywood front to mount the speakers and plywood top and bottom. I'd probably try to run some rough T/S parameters of the total volume and put in a port vs. leaving it as an infinite baffle. Any advice?
