I live in a relatively rural area and have tried numerous venues for renting a LCD projector for a Rotary Program. The local library, the local community college and some of the city departments. All say that they don't loan out any of their equipment. I've also been told by these people than many ask but they're all turned away. This seems to me like a business opportunity. I know that there are several online rental companies and the fees are quite significant. My thoughts were to simply advertise locally and make a projector and sound system available for rent here on a smaller scale. I'm not looking for a second job, however, there seems to be a need and no one is filling it. Any thoughts anyone would like to share? Past experiences?

Sounds like a great plan to me!
Rather then building them though I would buy cheap ones or broken ones and fix them then rent them out.
You want to look professional right?

If you do plan on building for the purpose of renting it out... make sure your building the right one. Do some research on how the projector would be most likely used (does it have to be portable? what would be projected? and the like) then decide on what your design should be.
The only real way to know whether this is a good idea is to go on ahead and do it... the worst thing that could happen is you'd be stuck with a terrific projector.

My wife and i run a carpet cleaning company together. Before we got started we did some "market research" such as phoneing people or flyers to see if it was viable or not before we bought the company.
Do your research first before sinking a bunch of money into it!😀
