Im in the process of building my projector but i dont know what measurements to use for the lenses and LCD etc? I plan to have 100" image from about 7 feet away aprox. 15" lcd, lumenlab lens kit. so far i have the lamp setup sort of and the IR glass in front of that about 3 inches. Im putting the first fresnel 220mm from the lamp and the second fresnel besind it so its unsplit, plus the Lexan in front of all that. how far do i put the lcd from the fresnels or lamp or wherever the measuring point is. And lastly, where does the final proj. lens go in reference to the lcd? I would appreciate anyone who could help.
Thank You
Thank You
Could someone please help me with this, i am stuck and its killing me to look at my half-built projector. 🙁
The reason none of the very helpful and smart people here are helping is that this is a very-often repeated set of formulae and you will find them if you look around the forum. Search perhaps for FL or Focal Length.
Ok, thanks. Thats all i need, even if its someone pointing me in the right direction because i tried searching and i cant find it. Thanks, ill try searching tha, see if i find anything.
I just did a search using the keyword "measurements" and found this thread.
It might help you.

I found this one page and its pretty much exactly what i need. Ecpect this is for the split fresnel design but im doing the unsplit which i just ignore the parts about the fresnel after the lcd. But thanks alot for your reply, i appreciate it.
This forum is for help & helping.
GO DO A SEARCH is not helping, If you have read this same question 100's of times, maby its time to get away from the computer for a bit, take a little break.
If your going to make the effort of replying to repeat questions why not be a bit more helpfull. remember thast why the forum is here, to be HELPFULL

*some* of us can give helpful hints that don't sound like the braying of an ...er... donkey. If newbies are constantly spoonfed the same basic information every time they don't feel like searching then the forum degenerates, the experienced members leave in disgust and then there is no knowledge left. I have seen this occur on multiple formerly-good message boards with various themes.
*some* of us understand that a nudge in the right general direction, like, say, a keyword to use in a search, is all it will take to launch somebody off on a huge learning experience.
*some* of us want to "teach a man to fish" as it were.
*some* of us need to take a Valium and calm down. Remember, breathe deeply in through the nose and exhale through the mouth. Speaking of taking a little break... 😉
head on over to lumen lab u get the free version of his guide is a good start and understanding then ask better questions about focals and methods ect
I do have the lumenlab plans. It is a great starter tool. It says the measurements to use and what to do but it doesnt say why and what if you need to modify it, than the measurements will obviously be no good. Plus, this plan is really outdated so theres alot of questions to be answered. Thanks to all the people who replied to this, i got just what i need.. SO FAR 🙂.
Heres a question: I am building my PJ by doing a frame first, than MDF panels. Im using screws but now i need too many so im using wood glue at some parts. Will that still hold with the high heat?
