Projector concept

Can anyone please reassure or discard the concept described in the following sketch?

It is based on a light source that projects through a two way mirror which functions as a standard mirror to project the image from the lcd panel.

The only question I have is:
How are you going to iluminate the lcd if all the light is passing over it and out through the lens?

I don't think it will work.

Yeah, thats not going to work.

Ive actually tried this... all that happens is you will get major light washout because the image on the mirrors has no density
