I followed the general advice on the Linkwitz site, but adjusted drivers and dimensions to suit.
Unless you are very good at crossovers, I would recommend one of the new digital crossovers such as the Behringer DCX2496 or dbx Driverack PA.
And do a test baffle. It is is very easy to make one, and will prove very handy as you finalise the design.

Thanks for the information, Where can you find this crossovers ?
Which drivers did you use for your open baffles and how it sounds ?? Can you compare it to something esle ?
Of course I read all your site who is really interesting. At least, you have lots of experiece in open baffles, I saw your projects there are really nice.
Just one thing about your web page, take it like a sugestion: It´s really hard to read the text with the circle of blue color.
Anyway, I hope your are happy with your speakers and if you have more informations to share, I will be really pleased.

Hi ICARE,
I am in the same route for open baffle, and also living in Madrid.
I finished some days ago a baffle plan (65cmx90cm) with Monacor sp 200X cheap drivers, and the usual tweaking on basket damping (dampening ?).
No bass to talk about, but what is left has an unusual quality that I like. Bad news is that, at least in my room, they beam a lot, and the sweet spot is sweet, but also very little.
Linkwith looks to me like the brute force approach. Heavy equalization an heavy power. Maybe this is the only way to it, but I prefer to convince myself and start with something simpler.
Have a look at this link:
www.supravox.fr
They have an open baffle project under "Enceintes" "Kits", and Supravox is distributed in Spain. (*)
Saludos
Miguel
(*) Usual disclaimer on No affiliation bla, bla, bla....

I've made the site a little easier for those with an aversion to pink and blue bubbles.
🙂
The information is all there, but to summarise:
The crossover is a dbx Driverack PA, cost around $500 US.
If you are in Europe, LEM make a similar crossover, the DX26
Lem
Behringer also have new processor the DCX2496 which should be good.
The drivers are Seas Millenium tweeters, Seas W22 for the midrange, and Adire DPL12 for the bass.
I used to own Wilson Watts and Martin Logan CLS. These sound like a combination of the best aspects of both.

MENTERO: Muchas gracias.
Thanks for the link, but the look of this speakers are really horrible. I don´t know if I can adapt it to a other design.
Do you have good plans in Madrid ?, if you know places where I can listen open baffles.
See you. y hasta luego
STEVE: I like much more the new look of your web page, now it´s really clear and very nice.
You talk about crossover, are they adaptable to the drivers you choose.
I mean, I can buy the DX 26 and choose a driver different than yours ??
And did you try adire DPL12 in open box, because, Your BOB is for this driver a close box NO !! ?
How it´s sound, are you happy with the design..

You can use the crossovers with any driver, as long as it is suitable for open baffle.
The DPLs are open baffle, just set in an H frame to increase baffle width.
They sound great.

Hi ICARE,
Agreed. Horrible. I love them.
No, I have not been able to find any. Too difficult to sale, maybe.
Have you seen this site?. I found the information on open baffle interesting.

Good luck and keep us posted on your findings.

Cool, so I can use any drivers if I buy the DCX2496, but only one is enough ?, and the result is good ?
And you said as well than the H frame is good for increase the width. Can you give the optimal size it has to be (THE H). How did you calculate the height of the drivers and the surface of the board ?
Do you know where I can find Dynaudio drivers on the net ?
Mentero: Thanks for the site, it´s great. I just wrote a leter to this guy about this project.
Now I´m starting the amplificator for the sub and I cannot find a place in Madrid where I can print my Typon (I´m not sure about about the name in English).
Do you kow a place.

You calculate the width of the baffle by measuring from the center of the driver at the back to the center of the driver at the front. This is the Path Difference. You can use this to calculate where the roll off will start and what happens when you make the baffle wider.
These two programs will help:
Linkwitz dipole volume
And download the dipole.xls file at:
Dipole subwoofers
There is no correct width. The wider the baffle the lower the bass will go before rolling off, but the bigger and uglier your speaker will be.
I chose the height so the tweeter would be just above ear level when I'm seated.
I don't understand your question about one driver being enough, or why you want Dynaudio drivers. They aren't available to DIYers anymore, but there are usually some on eBay.
